Yorkton Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan Bowling League

September 2023- April 2024

 Welcome to the 2023-24 Bowling Season!

 Bowling EtiquettePlease remember…..

1)  When two bowlers are ready to throw the ball at the same time you must yield to the right. If he/she does not wish to throw first at that moment, do not wait, just go ahead and throw your turn.

2)  After you throw, return to the monitor.  If waiting to throw, stand back near the monitor.

3)  Try not to loft the ball.

4)  Socialize and have fun!  We are all “professionals” but this is not a professional league.

Membership: Superannuated teachers and/or spouses—friends and    acquaintances of retired teachers are also welcome.

Dates/Times: 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Wednesdays starting September 13, 2023 to second week of April 2024

Total– 30 weeks

Fees:

1) Set by the bowling arena—$360.00 per year ($12.00/week)

Payment options (choose one):

  1. a) Full year– $360.00

 

  1. b) Installments–first half ($180.00) due ASAP; second half

($180.00) due after Christmas

 

Should bowlers wish to join the league mid-season due to health issues, work commitments etc., every effort will be made to accommodate them, and fees will be pro-rated.  However, those wishing to do so must first get approval from the executive and the bowl arena management.

Selection of Teams:

Every attempt will be made to make up teams of a co-ed nature consisting of high, medium and low averages. All team standings are based on handicaps so all teams are equalized as much as possible.  So just enjoy bowling regardless of your scores!!

 Statistics: are looked after by the bowl arena staff and are available for viewing every week.

 Absenteeism: If you are unable to bowl on any given week you may

roll ahead by calling the bowl arena and making arrangements (306-783-5183).  If you are unable to roll ahead, your average will simply be used for the games you are missing that week.

Shoes: bowling shoes are your responsibility……..buy, rent or……steal!

 Refreshments:  are available from the Bowl Arena concession.  No outside drinks, please.  Do not bring your own coffee.

 Fun Times: Free game coupons from the Bowl Arena in recognition of birthdays may be used anytime.

Howland’s Honey will once again provide us with a container of honey for our weekly “Honey” Award given to the person with the most pins under average. Enjoy!

The year-end social and awards luncheon will once again be held after the final day of roll offs at the end of the season.

Bowling 2019-20

Summer has rolled along fairly quickly.
Now it is time to think about “rolling”  into winter!
How is that possible?  Simply by joining the 2019-20 Yorkton and District Superannuated Teachers Bowling League .
Joining us will provide you the opportunity to show off your bowling skills, (or not), as well as provide you
the opportunity to have  a whole lot of fun and exercise!

Membership is open to Superannuated teachers,  as well as their spouse, friends and acquaintances.
The season runs Sept 11, 2019 – mid April, 2020 .
Those bowlers unable to attend on any given week can roll ahead or get a substitute for that particular session.
Members are assigned to a mixed team and will bowl three games per week beginning at 9:30 am each Wednesday.
Fees average about $10.00 per week payable twice yearly.
Handicaps are determined by the BowlArena staff in order to accommodate any calibre of bowler!

Last year we had seven teams with  either 4 or 5 bowlers per team!

Season:  Wednesdays September 12, 2018 to second week of April 2019

Total– 30 weeks

Fees:

1) Set by the bowling arena—$303.50 per year (includes $3.50 Canadian Bowling Association membership)

Payment options:

  1. a) Full year– which includes a voucher for three free games
  2. b) Installments–first half ($153.50) due ASAP; second half ($150.00) due after Christmas

Included with fees is a card for one free game for each month of the season.

 2)  League Fee– $5.00 per bowler used at year end for awards and Luncheon, which will be potluck.

3)  Sub Fees– A substitute bowler will pay $5.00 for each time they  bowl.  This is payable to the team captain who will forward fees to the treasurer.

*If you recruit a new bowler who stays for the full year you receive a $50 cash refund at the end of  the bowling season.

Weekly Dairy Queen Coupons for most pins over average are handed out.

There are Turkey draw entries for three consecutive strikes in a row sponsored by the Coop and opportunities to enter 50-50 draws.

Howland honey sponsors a weekly award given to the person with the most pins under average.

Each bowler will qualify only once in the season.
