Updates from the STS Office

  1. COVID-19

In this time of uncertainty, the safety and well-being of our members, staff and communities is our top priority.

The STS Office currently remains open and the staff is available to assist you.   In the event that our office must close the Chapter Presidents will be notified immediately and will be asked to pass along the information to their membership.  Our office hours are 8:30 – 12:00, Monday to Friday. You can reach our office at 306-373-3879, email sts@sts.sk.ca or by fax at 306-242-2538.

We would ask that you do not visit our office if you are experiencing a fever, cough, breathing problems, or have recently travelled outside of the province.

All precautions are being taken at the STS Office to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The following are some of the activities the STF are implementing in the building we occupy:

  • Stepping up frequent touch surface cleaning (door knobs, washroom doors)
  • Hand sanitizer stations in the building
  • Providing disinfecting wipes for use in common spaces
  • Well stocked soap supplied
  • HVAC systems running with maximum fresh air set-points for maximum air exchange

  1. STS AGM

Potential implications of the COVID-19 situation for the AGM are being investigated.  Further information will be forthcoming.

  1. STS Recreation Events

The following STS Recreation events have been cancelled:

Bridge and Cribbage – April 9, 2020 – Swift Current Chapter

Multi-Genre Art Workshop – April 16-17, 2020 – Lloydminster Chapter

Bowling – April 23-24, 2020 – Regina Chapter

Mah Jongg – May 7, 2020 – Northwest Chapter

The decision to cancel an STS Recreation event and contact of the participants is the responsibility of the host Chapter.

  1. Retirement Lifestyle Sessions

No Retirement Lifestyle Sessions are being planned at this time.

  1. Information regarding travel coverage under the STS Group Benefits Plan

The following information has been provided by Saskatchewan Blue Cross regarding the STS Group Benefits Plan.

If a Group plan member is quarantined in relation to COVID-19, in any location outside of Saskatchewan at any point in their trip, coverage will be automatically extended until the quarantine has been lifted and the member can return home. Additional costs for meals and accommodations while quarantined can be submitted for review, and an appropriate determination would be made as to whether an additional exception would be granted under the benefit for meals and accommodation (to provide reimbursement due to the quarantine versus hospitalization).

The STS Group Benefits Plan has no coverage exclusions for travel advisories, which means the current travel advisories will not affect your coverage. All travelers should be aware that there are health risks when you travel, and we advocate adherence to such advice, including reconsideration of travel plans to any destination with one of these warnings, or to a destination that is being closely monitored in relation to COVID-19. Your consideration and adherence to travel advisories help to protect the health of travelers and the Canadian public.

STS Bowling

Good evening, Doug!

Please pass on the message below to our membership:

Please be advised that the Wednesday morning Yorkton STS Bowling League will be cancelled until further notice.  As our president Don Pfeifer is away in Mexico, we do not have a contact list so we are asking league members to be sure that their team members who may not receive STS emails are made aware of the cancellation.

Thank you for your help and consideration,

Terri Mitchell and John Tropin for the STS Bowling Executive
